365 Songs: Someone to watch over me – Gershwin
I’ve always loved this song. It was originally written by George and Ira Gershwin in 1926 for the musical Oh Kay! and has been sung by many performers including Ella Fitzgerald, Barbara Streisand and Linda Ronstadt. The song has also featured on Battlestar Galactica and in Star Trek: Voyager and in the movie Mr Holland’s Opus.
Hope you enjoy it!

I so love this music Mark … if only I had some talent ….
Thanks, Doug! There’ll be lots more in this style – it’s probably my favourite type of music to play.
Mr Hollands Opus was an absolute gem of a film. This is by far the best 365 project I have seen so far! Good luck to you in keeping going – I’ll be listening for sure
Wow, thanks Krysia! I’ll keep going as long as I can and hope that people enjoy listening.
More more! Loved the tempo and interpretation.
Did you play this at our wedding? What was the other song you played and can you play it?
I like the John Lennon one too – what are you doing tomorrow?
Fiona
@Fiona, I did indeed, but I’ll need to ask Catriona to see if she can remember the other song. You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out what the first song of February is!
@Brent – Thanks for your comment.
I’m listening to your wonderful Gershwin piece late on friday night, having just viewed the great animations by your equally talented boys! I am SOO glad I have stumbled across this- and will listen in between breaks from Coffee Break French. Keep up ALL the good work Mark, you are amazing.
