365 Songs: Someone to watch over me – Gershwin

365songsI’ve always loved this song. It was originally written by George and Ira Gershwin in 1926 for the musical Oh Kay! and has been sung by many performers including Ella Fitzgerald, Barbara Streisand and Linda Ronstadt. The song has also featured on Battlestar Galactica and in Star Trek: Voyager and in the movie Mr Holland’s Opus.

    Mr Hollands Opus was an absolute gem of a film. This is by far the best 365 project I have seen so far! Good luck to you in keeping going – I’ll be listening for sure :-)

    @Fiona, I did indeed, but I’ll need to ask Catriona to see if she can remember the other song. You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out what the first song of February is!

    I’m listening to your wonderful Gershwin piece late on friday night, having just viewed the great animations by your equally talented boys! I am SOO glad I have stumbled across this- and will listen in between breaks from Coffee Break French. Keep up ALL the good work Mark, you are amazing.
