206/365 Songs: Unexpected Song – Song and Dance
This song started life as Variation 5 in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Variations, a set of variations on a theme by Paganini for cello and rock orchestra which were written for Andrew’s brother Julian following a lost bet on a Leyton Orient football match! Variation 1 became the theme tune for The South Bank Show.
Variation 5 became Unexpected Song when Don Black wrote lyrics for the one-woman show Tell me on a Sunday – have a listen to my previous performance of the title song from this show from back in January.
