iPad Band at the ADE Institute do The Monkees

I’ve just spent three days working with inspiring educators from across Europe at the Apple Distinguished Educator Institute, welcoming the “class of 2011″ to the ADE programme. It has been fantastic being surrounded by so many engaging and committed teachers from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. We decided to put together an iPad band for a performance on the final day of the conference, and after a couple of quick rehearsal sessions we performed this morning to open the day’s proceedings. Filmed by UK ADE coordinator David Baugh, the above video will hopefully give a flavour of our performance!

A word of explanation on our group’s name, GC/DC: to keep things simple we chose a song with very few chords – and “I’m a believer” fitted the requirements: G, C, D and a couple of Fs thrown in. So it seemed only right to name our band GC/DC!

This was the most creative and fun thing I have seen on an iPad to date. I am still humming the tune and passing in on to all that will listen, lets get this viral! Well done guys and thanks again for an inspirational weekend.

Brilliant! – given me lots of ideas on how to develop the music work I’m doing with the iPads. Well done to all of you – wish I’d been there!
